Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Briefs ("the Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age, have read and understood these Terms of Service, and agree to be bound by them. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
Both documents together form the full legal agreement between you and Briefs. Please read both.
Use of the Service
Briefs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes — including writing briefs, managing contacts, distributing newsletters, and publishing your bio-link page.
We offer a 14-day free trial that gives you full access to the core application features. Email sending and AI Assistance are optional paid add-ons and are not included in the free trial unless you add them explicitly. No credit card is required to start your trial.
You agree to use the Service fairly and in good faith. You may not use the Service in a way that deliberately degrades performance for other users, circumvents usage limits, or automates access outside of officially supported APIs or integrations.
Accounts & Subscriptions
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
Billing & Payment
Paid plans are billed monthly. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
Plan Changes
You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for partial months.
Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create, upload, or publish through the Service — including your briefs, newsletters, contact lists, bio-link pages, and any other materials ("Your Content"). We claim no intellectual property rights over Your Content.
By using the Service, you grant Briefs a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and deliver Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not sell, share, or use Your Content for advertising.
If you publish a brief on Briefs, other users may cite it in their own briefs. When your brief is cited, you will receive a notification showing the citing brief and its author. By publishing a brief, you consent to it being citable by other users of the platform. You retain all rights to your original content.
You are solely responsible for the legality, accuracy, and appropriateness of Your Content. Do not upload content that infringes the rights of others or violates any applicable law.
Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the Service to do any of the following:
Spam & Unsolicited Messages
Send unsolicited bulk email, spam, or any communication to recipients who have not opted in to receive messages from you. All email campaigns must comply with applicable anti-spam laws including CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
Harmful or Illegal Content
Publish or distribute content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, fraudulent, or that infringes on the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Platform Abuse
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, reverse-engineer any aspect of the platform, introduce malware, or interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Impersonation
Impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity, or create accounts under false pretences.
Resale Without Authorisation
Resell, sublicence, or otherwise commercialise access to the Service without our express written permission.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, software, name, logo, and all platform-generated content, is the exclusive property of Briefs and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership rights in the Service to you.
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation. We appreciate every piece of feedback — it directly shapes how Briefs evolves.
The Service may integrate with third-party tools and services (such as Unsplash for images or Mailgun for email delivery). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and you agree to comply with them.
Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
The AI Assistance features within the Service generate content based on your inputs. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content. You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before publishing or sending it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Briefs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including loss of data, revenue, or goodwill — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your account at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, your access to paid features will continue until the end of the current billing period, after which your account will be downgraded or closed.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately and without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in prohibited conduct, or if your continued use poses a risk to the Service or other users. We will attempt to notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.
Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability survive termination.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service from time to time as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated terms on the Service and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also send you an email notification.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel your account.
